Why Plett?

  • So, why Plett? Plettenberg Bay is situated in the beautiful Garden Route in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
  • It is a stunning little town with spectacular scenery, beaches and a huge array of activities awaits you.
  • The town is home to over 50,000 people with an economy based primarily on tourism.
  • With one of the fastest population growths in the Western Cape, the Bitou Municipality is working hard to address the inequalities which have developed by helping the most disadvantaged communities.
  • The volunteer accommodation is located a few metres from the town centre – with cafes, bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep and beaches within walking distance.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in assisting pupils in the disadvantaged communities whilst enjoying the natural beauty and fun which Plett has to offer.
  • Pippa  lives in Plett and will be your host and mentor during your stay.
  • Transport to and from the schools is only a 10 minute drive and is included in the programme cost.
  • Pippa establishes the needs of the community and matches volunteers with those requirements. You can therefore use your passions and skills to really enhance the lives of these children.
  • Week-ends are free for volunteers to experience the stunning beaches and a range of activities from surfing, kayaking, DSC_0067tree top canopy tours, horse riding safaris to river trips, walking trails, bungee, paragliding and many others.
